Well, this is not my 1st time and since the candidate is a fresh grad anyway, should be no problem for me to handle it.
I could still remember how pathetic i was during my own interview session 2 years ago, untill today, i still couldn't understand why i was hired.. given the fact that i did very badly on the test paper, and i appeared to be verbally disabled whenever my ex-boss asked me a technical question... well... 2 years later.. i finally got it...
During the Interview Session :
Me : "So.. you have a very interesting internship program, you were training the in geology department of Malaysia, so tell me about it.. "
xxx: "ya, i look into the data generated by computer everyday"
Me :" what sort of data? "
xxx: "it depends, the data is use to analyze and predict earthquake"
Me : " that's interesting, how you analyze it?"
xx : "My senior will analyze"
Me : "Okie... then what kind of data that can tell us about the earthquake?"
xxx : "erm.. computer data lo."
Me : "i know.. but then, what does it indicate, the wave? the magnitude?"
xxx: "ya... it tell us the magnitude of the waveform... of the earth movement"
Me :"so, do you understand how the data magnitude being measured?"
xxx " By using computer lo"
Me : "erm.. could you be more specific, may be you can explain what is the mechanism that give us the measurement"
xxx : "erm... is.. by using computer to measure lo... "
Me : "Okie, i understand, but the computer is just part of the whole system, im sure the computer receives the data from some sort of measurement tool, the PC is just use for manipulation and display purpose, am i right. "
xxx : "yes.."
Me: "So, i want to know if you can explain what's the architecture of the measurement system, what are they and how it works, in general.."
xxx: "by.... using a computer lo..."
