5 weeks has passed, what am i doin here? i have a bad feeling now... very familiar feeling... 3 more weeks to go... and im really unsure about what's going to happen.
Staying in US is a whole new experience to me, people here are generally polite and helpful. Back in M'sia, i always been wondering why ppl got heat up so easily, but at here, is a totally different situation, everybody seems to be smilling and greeting each other. I think this is something we need to learn from the ang mo, and i believe it wouldn't cost us much to do this, would it?
And of coz, every place has it own dark side, the one thing i really don't get it is... In US, we are suppose to pay huge amount of tip to the person who serve us, it doesn't matter if you are dinning in restaurent, hotel room service, or even when you call a cab... like it or not, we need to pay extra 15%-20% of the total amount as tip. Aren't the service charge is already been included in the price?
During my 1st week at here, i remember dinning in a Taiwanese restaurent... my bill was about 30 bucks and i placed an extra 3 bucks for the tips... and the auntie came back and told me...
Auntie : 'Your tip is too less, there's no way we can earn enuff money if everybody tip as less as you do'
Fee : "oh... sorry... here another 2 bucks, this will do it?"
Auntie : "ya... thanks"
fee : ^.^"
5 dollars tip for a 30 dollars meal... That was by far, the most expansive cultural shock i got...
so.. a waitress in US... could easily be earning more than an Engineer in M'sia... damn...
